Handmade silk bouquets

I’ve been a busy girl the last few weeks, which has kept me from posting on the blog.  So today I thought I’d reveal what’s been keeping me so busy!

I’ll be shipping an order today that was for a set of shabby chic bouquets, buttonholes and corsages.  The bride wanted darker pink roses for her bouquet and lighter pink and cream for the bridesmaids.  I sourced some lovely pale pink roses that look real, and finished off around the base with some feathers for a lovely shabby chic feel.  The bride’s bouquet handle has a pink ribbon while the bridesmaids were cream, and all with a diamante buckle.

Bridesmaids bouquetThe matching corsage features two pale pink roses, some feathers and is finished off with a sweet little diamante buckle.

shabby chic corsageThe buttonhole features a rosebud, feather and leaves and is finished with a cream bow.

Shabby chic boutonniereThe other order I’ve been working on had me a bit nervous at first as my client asked for gold, black and white bouquets.  I was nervous because of the gold which could potentially look a bit tacky…

Unfortunately, my suppliers didn’t have any gold roses, but they did have a rose which was a deep yellow which I thought could work.  I also found some little gold berries which were perfect for adding the gold touches that my client wanted.

Gold ballsMy client wanted more black than gold in the bouquets, so I’ve added black feathers to make it more dramatic.  These are the sweet little flowergirl’s bouquets, and I’m working on the bridesmaid’s bouquets now – they’ll be the same but larger and with more black feathers.

Gold flowergirls bouquetI love being creative with bouquets, and I also love that customers aren’t afraid to ask me to make designs to match their colours – it’s a real challenge for me, and pushes me to be even more creative – I can’t wait to see what my next challenge might be!
